Our Schedule

This isn’t always set in stone, but it’s a general overview of our day.

7 - 8 I’m up and have a little time to check things out before the wildthings join me for the day. I use this time to check emails, watch the news, shower, just wake up.

8 - 8:30 Wake up the girls and get them moving for the day. Fix breakfast for us and get some light housework done.

9:00 Start school. Each lesson lasts an average of 30 minutes, 45 minutes at most, then it’s time to move on. If there’s any work to finish they’ll do it later. We start with language. Sarah’s free to do her work in the order she chooses, but Kelly usually has a set rhythm. The reason we start with language is because it’s the easiest and they have time to wake up.

12:00 With their core subjects out of the way, it’s time for PE. We usually do some kind of exercise each day for 20 minutes, sometimes longer. We do everything from dancing to games to riding bikes.

12:30 Time to fix lunch. Usually it’s something easy like tuna salad on red peppers or (foreman) grilled chicken strips. We eat and take a 1/2 hour down time.

1:15 Back at it to work on other subjects. It doesn’t take long to finish Health, but it’s done every day. This is when the radio comes on and we relax a little.

1:45 The girls have an hour and 15 minutes to finish up any schoolwork or work on other projects.

3:00 Clean up time. Everything gets put away and chores are done.

4:00 Dad comes home, girls get downtime before dinner unless dad wants help doing a task.

5:30 Dinner is started. While it’s cooking the girls get their literature assignment and read. Usually for about 30 minutes, but sometimes they pick it back up after we eat.

6:15 Time to eat and after we’re finished, usually the dishes are done and clothes are readied for the coming day.

7:00 - 10:00 Baths/Showers and time spent watching tv, reading, playing board games or doing something on their own.

10:30 Bedtime for all.
